Goldseed is an independent music and art project. We made a web player so you can hear our album — that's the whole point of this. We're not a data company, and we have no interest in being one.

Who we are

Goldseed is an independent music and art project based in Sheffield, UK. You can find us at goldseedmusic.com.

What we collect and why

When you create an account or sign in, we collect:

• Your name and email address
• A hashed version of your password — we never store your password in plain text
• If you choose to tell us: where you live (e.g. "Sheffield, UK") — this is optional, and just helps us know where our listeners are
• If you choose one: a screen name, shown instead of your first name in live chat
• Whether you're happy for us to contact you by email — entirely your choice, and you can change your mind any time in your account settings

When you use the player, we also collect:

• Which tracks you played
• Play counts and timestamps
• How long you listened and whether you completed a track

This listening data is linked to your account and stored on our own server. We use it to understand how the album is being heard and to improve the player. We don't use it for advertising, and we don't share it with anyone outside Goldseed.

What we do not do

• We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties
• We do not store passwords in plain text — they are hashed before storage
• We do not use your data for targeted advertising
• We do not use tracking pixels or cross-site trackers
• We do not share data with data brokers

Data retention

We hold your account information and listening data for as long as you have an account with us. Records of when and where you signed in or visited are deleted after 24 months, and messages sent through our contact form after 12 months. You can ask us to delete it at any time by getting in touch. When an account is deleted, the tracks you played and any reviews you wrote stay in our records under your name.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, correct, or delete any personal data we hold about you. To exercise any of these rights, get in touch with Goldseed.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use any third-party or advertising cookies.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top. We're not going to suddenly start selling your data — that's just not who we are.
